I wanted to share a neat little trick for Google Earth Engine I’ve been working on. Did you know you can build an app that automatically refreshes its content?
I’m currently ingesting the ESRI 10m Land Cover 2024 dataset from Impact Observatory into the GEE Community Catalog. Instead of just watching a static progress bar, I decided to build a simple app that shows the ingestion status and updates the map in real-time.
It’s a bit like “slow TV” for data processing and you can literally watch the map fill in as the data comes in. You can even adjust the refresh timer.
